The Tympanometer® with the Car

The car actually drives into the garage and honks its horn - keeping the children entertained.

Pure tone audiometry can be a hassle. That’s why the Pilot is the number one choice by pediatricians for screening pre-school children.

Preschool children cannot always identify tones. This may result in an inaccurate audiometric screening. The Pilot® Audiometer eliminates the hassle! The child is asked to identify ten pictures presented at eight descending decibel levels. The screening takes less than one minute per ear and reduces costly and unnecessary referrals. The built-in pure tone audiometer makes it perfect for all age groups, and the bilingual (English/Spanish) unit will broaden your screening capabilities.

It’s as simple as: “Let’s look at the pictures.”

1Tell the child you are going to play the “Pilot Game” to reduce the anxiety associated with screening. Have Mom, Dad or an assistant review the pictures and corresponding words on the laminated picture sheet prior to the screening.

2The game can be played sitting or standing. Tell the child that the Pilot needs their help and is going to ask them some questions. The headset can now be introduced by stating that they are going to wear a headset “just like the Pilot” and should listen very carefully to what the Pilot asks.

3Press the START button. The first series will be 10 words presented in eight different decibel levels and generally starts on the left ear. The second series is another set of 10 words presented to the right ear (choice of ears is chosen by operator by depressing TEST EAR).

4The child will point to the pictures as the operator follows along with the patient on the operator earphone and marks the results on the score pad. The entire test lasts under 4 minutes!

5Optional Bilingual Version. Equipped in S/E model.

A. When powering up, press and hold the START and TEST EAR key at the same time until the unit has finished blinking (self-test).

B. Verify language by pressing the start key. The Bilingual Pilot® will contain an additional Spanish picture board, Spanish laminated picturesheet and score pad.

Pure Tone.

Whether you purchase the Pilot® or Pilot® Bilingual Audiometer, each is equipped with a pure tone audiometer. The pure tone audiometer allows you to screen more mature children. The picture board is not necessary, and the score pad can be used for either screening process.

With this method of hearing screening, you can test hearing in children as early as age three with the new Pilot audiometer. The two-syllable words are designed to fall between 500 Hz and 4000Hz on the audiogram. The word/picture recognition test has been a valid means of obtaining accurate hearing information on youngsters for over forty years. Review PT code 92583,

Quick, Accurate, Professional and Fun!

The Race Car Tympanometeror

Race Car TympanometerAudiometer

Tympanometry can be a hassle. A child who is crying, vocalizing, moving around or just uncooperative can offer a “time consuming challenge” to even the most experienced professional. A key element in eliminating the hassle of tympanometry would be to design a creative visual distraction that would capture the child’s attention for just a few precious seconds. This brief moment of distraction would allow the operator to maintain a proper probe seal and generate an accurate tympanogram. As the child is focused on the race” a proper probe seal is obtained and the child’s car accelerates across the finish line a WINNER! You and the child will successfully “speed” through each screening.

Hassle Free Tympanometry!

An accurate tympanogram with ipsilateral reflex is obtained for review or printing in seconds.

No other Tympanometer meets pediatricians needs as well as the Race Car.

When a proper seal is achieved, the car will begin driving toward the garage. When the car is in the garage, the door will close and the patient will hear a “beep”, upon test completion. When completed simply press the PRINT key.

1Press the POWER button. The system will conduct a self test, and the screen will display the visual graphics. (This will take just a few seconds.)

2Press the NEW CHILD button before each child.

3Gently insert the probe into the right or left ear. Be certain the screen displays the ear you plan to test first.

4Audiometric testing available. After pressing the AUDIO KEY, a pre-set frequency chart will appear. To administer the test, place the headset on the child, establish the desired frequency level and press STIM to administer sound.

When administering a tympanometry exam and hearing exam,

all results will print on the same sheet.
